The Crafts Council works to promote the best of UK contemporary craft nationally and internationally. We help makers to renew their craft skills throughout their careers; we help audiences to learn more about craft through our exhibitions; we are continually developing our work with young people and schools to promote a life-long interest in craft; we make the Crafts Council Collection – the UK’s foremost collection of contemporary craft – available throughout the country through loans to museums and galleries.

With your help, we can continue to develop and strengthen the UK as a world centre for contemporary craft. Examples of how you can support our work include:

Support the Handling Collection – from £1,000

Lending objects from the Handling Collection to schools gives young people the powerful experience of direct contact with valuable craft objects. Your gift will help us to acquire new works for the Handling Collection and help us to make it available more widely

Support Craft Club – from £2,000

Craft Club, in partnership with the UK Hand Knitting Association and the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, trains volunteers to pass on their existing craft skills to children and young people in schools and community settings

Support our research – from £3,000

Our research programme provides evidence of the relevance, impact and importance of contemporary craft to the UK’s cultural, social and economic life, helping to secure the future of craft makers and their work. A major report like Making Value costs at least £30,000.

Support Collective: our professional development programmes for craft makers – from £4,000

Collective offers a range of opportunities to craft makers at all stages of their careers who want to refresh and renew their skills, from the chance to participate in especially-tailored events to individual awards.

Join the Ruby Circle

To celebrate the Crafts Council’s 40th anniversary in 2011, we are launching the Ruby Circle to ensure that the future of the Collection is secure and we can make it even more widely available.

Leaving a Gift to the Crafts Council in your Will

Leaving a gift to the Crafts Council is a generous way to ensure that we can continue to help future generations to make, see, collect and learn about contemporary craft.

Your support will enable us to help craft makers to continue to develop throughout their careers, help us to buy new works for the Collection and make them available to people across the UK and help people of all ages to learn more about contemporary craft.
