Women to Watch
Metalwork maker Sian Matthews will design and make 50 steel bookmarks for the Cultural Leadership Programme’s inaugural Women to Watch list that will be announced in March 2010 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The Cultural Leadership Programme launched a search for future female leaders within the creative and cultural industries earlier this year. Women to Watch will celebrate the achievements of some of the most ambitious and talented women who have made an impact within these industries. The judging panel for Women to Watch, chaired by Jenni Murray OBE, presenter of Woman’s Hour, will choose 50 women from nominations made by established leaders in the creative sector. By publicly recognising these women the Cultural Leadership Programme hopes to encourage the next generation of women into careers as cultural leaders and figureheads.
The Crafts Council worked with the Cultural Leadership Programme to commission Sian Matthews to create a steel bookmark that will incorporate the new Women to Watch logo and the date of presentation.
