Origin exhibitors announced
Vessels by Victoria Delany
Following its successful integration into the London Design Festival in 2010, Origin, the Craft Council’s Contemporary Craft Fair, will return to Old Spitalfields Market (22-28 September 2011), presenting over 200 makers in a purpose-built pavilion.
The selection of exhibitors was made by a distinguished panel representing the world of galleries, retail, craft consultancy, design and journalism; including Henrietta Thompson of Wallpaper* and award-winning interior designer, Lee Broom. The full list of the panel members is provided below.
This year will see fresh collections from makers such as Cissy Cook Designs (paper), Victoria Delany (interiors), Azurer (ceramics) and Waywood (furniture). We are also delighted to welcome the return of repeat exhibitors who will be presenting new work including Christian O’Reilly (furniture), Yoko Izawa (non-precious jewellery), Margo Selby (woven textiles), Pachadesign (furniture), James Lethbridge (glass) and Jason Collingwood (woven textiles).
These highly-skilled makers span ceramics, furniture, metalwork, paper and glass, to fashion accessories, jewellery, woven plastics, textiles and knitwear and Origin offers a rare opportunity to see and buy a diverse range of high-quality, original craft in a spacious, light-filled purpose-built pavilion. LIBERTY SELECTS DISPLAY WINDOWS
For the first time Origin will collaborate with prestigious London retailer, Liberty. Michelle Alger, Buying Manager – Home & Gift, will curate five new Display Windows, featuring work from participating exhibitors.
LUX CRAFT
The Crafts Council is also delighted to announce Lux Craft; a new show within Origin, enabled through the support of Nokia Design, specifically conceived and designed to showcase lighting installations – a first for the fair.
“We are pleased to announce another strong list of exhibitors for Origin 2011. Origin provides an excellent opportunity to meet makers face to face and purchase high-quality contemporary craft in a range of disciplines. This year we also have Liberty curating five window displays and Nokia sponsoring Lux Craft – both ensuring that Origin is one of the must-see events at London Design Festival.” Rosy Greenlees, Executive Director, Crafts Council
