Trusts and Foundations play a vital role in supporting the work of the Crafts Council with the Crafts Council Collection, touring exhibitions, professional development schemes and participation and learning programmes all meeting the aims and objectives of charitable organisations supporting the arts.

Current programmes benefitting from the support of Trusts and Foundations include:

Firing Up: our national programme to reawaken school kilns across the UK and introduce thousands of children to working with clay.
Firing Up receives substantial support from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and Paul Hamlyn Foundation (2010-2013)

The Handling Collection: a valuable resource bringing children and young people directly into contact with contemporary craft objects by established and emerging makers.
Acquisitions for the Handling Collection are supported (2009 – 2011) by The Steel Charitable Trust.

Craft Club: a national initiative in partnership with the UK Handknitting Association and working with the National Federation of Women’s Institutes to enable children and young people to lean craft skills in schools and community settings.

We are very grateful to all these organisations for their generous support of these programmes.

We are also very grateful to the Madeline Mabey Trust for its support in 2011-12
