Over 80 jewellers and silversmiths make their home at Somerset House, 24 to 28 June
Somerset House continues their support of British jewellery by hosting the inaugural Hallmark Salon this week.
From the 24 to 28 June their West Wing Galleries will host over 80 jewellers and silversmiths. The makers will be on hand to talk about their work and with a price range of £60 to £16,000 there’s likely to be something for every taste and budget.
The criteria are simple – all work on show has been made and hallmarked in the UK, made of precious metal and demonstrates excellence in craftsmanship and design.
There’s an even balance of the established and the up-and-coming including Crafts Council alumni Yen whose Molecule range is inspired by molecular structures and Sanni Falkenberg whose intergalactic collection The Milky Way is inspired by cosmic landscapes, stars and galaxies.
And much of the work has been created especially for Hallmark Salon including work by car mechanic-turned silversmith Shaun Grace who has pieces in the V&A’s permanent collection and a piece by Phil Jordan based on the mathematical spiral of the Fibonacci Sequence.
Hallmark Salon is at Somerset House from 24 to 28 June.
