Fifteen recent graduates create craft interventions in Birmingham’s public spaces
Now in its fourth year, In:Site Festival brings 15 temporary artworks to Birmingham’s Cathedral Square. Over the week each graduate has a day to create their intervention on-site meaning that the public have to opportunity to see the work in progress and, with some projects, the public will be invited to participate.
‘The festival provides graduates a valuable early career gain and profile for their portfolio,’ explains Deirdre Figueiredo, director of Craftspace who organise the festival, ‘They directly benefit from being able to test the viability of ideas, go through the process of a live commission, respond to a brief and a specific site, and engage with the public at first hand.’
In:Site Festival is at various locations in Birmingham, 8-12 September
