Mallett is staging the Venetian glass artist’s first UK exhibition
Glass Ambition features new work from a man once described by Dale Chihuly as ‘the greatest glassblower there ever was’. Tagliapietra – now in his 80s – was born and raised on Murano and worked for many of the island’s leading factories before striking out on his own in 1990. The exhibition also reconnects Mallett with its historical interest in glass; for many years it had a highly respected glass department led by John P Smith who wrote numerous publications on the subject.
Glass Ambition is at London’s Ely House from 26 May to 4 July
