Creating an apprenticeship standard for the craft sector
Back in March, along with our partners, we announced that the Crafts Council was part of a Craft Apprenticeship Trailblazer - a group of 31 individual makers, craft businesses and associations - which would create a craft apprenticeship standard.
This group would design an apprenticeship standard and high-level assessment that would work for the small and micro-businesses that make up the majority of the sector.
A proposed apprenticeship standard was submitted in June and the Level 3 Craftsperson Trailblazer Apprenticeship standard has now officially been approved by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS). Read the press release
We now want to ask makers and businesses how interested they are in providing a job for an apprentice and what support they would need to make this possible.
Please help us by filling in this survey (10 minutes) by the 15 September.
The responses will help inform both the next stages of the Level 3 Craftsperson Trailblazer Apprenticeship standard and a new Craft Skills Academy which will be launched by the Crafts Council and Creative & Cultural Skills this autumn.
