Jilly Edwards

Jilly Edwards specialises in hand-woven tapestry, creating work for commercial and domestic settings. Large - miniature.

This time she has taken the work off the wall and onto a plinth, making it visible to study and engage with.

It is segmented but still a continuous story; each section is complete in itself but flows on to the next piece. Its research comes from the elements, landscape, life’s basics and is about time, reflecting. Edwards searches what’s around her and as she travels.

Much of the time is divided between being in the studio weaving, with its slow and methodical process, against the going out and looking, meeting and playing, and the marrying of the two is vital to her progress and her thoughts about how to engage with the viewer.
