Teaches
- work to commission
My work
My work is made from wood, metal and the materials that I find around me, often remnants from the managed landscape; thinnings from local woodlands, crown and root ends of trees, and discarded agricultural implements. They are descriptions of the elements, forces and patterns within the landscape, natural and manmade, a synthesis of where these meet or clash, then unify or acquiesce. Places where the memory of man is recorded in nature influence me, as do mans engineered devices that steer or harness the elemental forces. Where nature bends to mans hand for a moment then turns and moves on. Many pieces react to external stimuli; move with the wind, can be turned, re-arranged or have a ‘seat’ form so that the viewer becomes part of the work.
