My work

My work is predominantly inspired by the landscape; I am intrigued by the ways in which figurative elements emerge out of geological forms. These forms have evolved through the forces of nature over millions of years. This places the observer within the stream of time.
Working with cast glass gives me the opportunity to explore the properties of glass, light and tine using transparency, refraction and refection to create an inner world within the outer form. The differing intensity of light transmitted through the glass can change the piece quite dramatically. The process of making, from the concept to the realisation, allows for the unexpected to take place. This can be exciting and often leads on to new discoveries that inform and ensure that the work is evolving, the sculptures are one-off pieces, many are in private collections in the UK and USA.
