Rising Stars 2013 at the New Ashgate Gallery fosters and champions students and recent graduates of BA and MA Fine and Applied Arts programmes across the UK. The Rising Stars exhibition aims to enable new artists and makers to access the market place and customers during these challenging economic times. The programme includes a national symposium with top speakers and small group practical workshops for skills development. There will also be a Rising Stars catalogue and an educational film that may be used as promotional tools and to find other opportunities after the Rising Stars project.

Rising Stars takes place on 22 March – 4 May 2013 and is supported by the Billmier Charitable Trust.

Submissions are invited from:
• undergraduates
• postgraduates
• recent graduates (who completed study within the past 18 months)
• artists with a significant career break, relaunching their career.

Apply by email:
• CV (max. 2 pages)
• Statement (two paragraphs about you and your practice, max. 300 words.)
• 3-4 images of work (JPEG, max. 1MB in size, include titles in file names).

For more than fifty years, the New Ashgate Gallery Trust has been dedicated to promote and champion contemporary art and craft and to provide an unparalleled resource in Farnham, Surrey and beyond. We raise aspirations and inspire excellence. We foster emerging artists through professional practice seminars and partnerships. We deliver art workshops and projects in the gallery and the community, supporting widening and diverse participation in arts. As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on sales from exhibitions and donations. The gallery holds exhibitions of painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, metal, furniture, silverware, ceramics, and besides these, the craft shop and craft gallery offer ranges of jewellery, craft, textiles and tableware for sale, s well as books, magazines and art cards.
