The Starter Studio Programme for Designer Silversmiths provides start up support for dedicated and ambitious makers at an early stage in their career. The Programme is located at Yorkshire Artspace’s award winning artists’ studio complex Persistence Works, based in the centre of Sheffield.

If you are a silversmith or a maker who creates one-off jewellery pieces, then this may be the programme you are looking for.

Each year we recruit up to 4 makers to join the programme.

It offers access to:

— An equipped 108m2 shared workshop with 24/7 access at affordable rent for a maximum 2-year period.

— Access to our tailored business start up course.

— Mentor support from established silversmiths Brett Payne, Chris Knight and Maria Hanson.

— Technical and design skills support from experienced silversmith Cameron Maxfield.

— Exhibition and commission opportunities through Galvanize Sheffield, our bi-annual city-wide festival for contemporary metalwork.

If you have any questions or would like to arrange a site visit please contact Mir Jansen, programme manager at Yorkshire Artspace on 0114 213 0111 or by email mir@artspace.org.uk
