Materials Science facilities at UAL provide a framework for emerging as well as existing research capabilities in science and technology subjects. The University of the Arts, London has a range of laboratory facilities and experienced researchers who focus on the properties of materials used by designers, art practioners, printers and conservators. The University is a centre of excellence for ink/substrate projects, as well as having a wider portfolio which included conservation science,colour imaging and document security. A considerable amount of research into the behaviour of prints and printing materials has been carried out at Camberwell College of Arts and the London College of Communication.
