DAC aims to reduce the incidence and adverse consequences of crime through design of products, services, communications and environments that are ‘fit for the purpose’ and contextually appropriate in all other respects. This includes conducting applied research led by design practice within the interdisciplinary traditions of the Humanities, in particular with social science and design studies, to develop social design methodologies – conceptual as well as innovation frameworks, intellectual and practical resources to enable crime to be designed out of products, services and environments – which are moreover transferable to other social design themes.
