The Autonomatic Group has been undertaking research that explores the use of digital manufacturing technologies in the creative process of designing and making three dimensional objects. Based in the Design Centre on the Tremough Campus, they are practitioner researchers with skills and experience in designing in ceramics, metals, glass, plaster, plastics, amongst other media. Their research work ranges from high level process based research, developing new production processes and innovative aesthetic outcomes, through to investigating the role of digital craft practices in a broad post-industrial context.
Autonomatic work locally, nationally and internationally with makers and researchers on live projects and disseminate their research through exhibitions, practical demonstrations, journal articles and conference papers.
