An exhibition celebrating the skills of Korea’s traditional craftsmen and women is on at the Korean Culture Centre until 21 July

Living Heritage focuses on the skills of the makers as much as on the objects they’ve made. Each of the 25 exhibitors have been selected by the Seoul Intangible Cultural Heritage Association as master craftsmen and women who embody Korea’s living heritage, being repositories of collective craft skills. They’ve been selected for their work in a range of media, including lacquer, jade, ceramics, mother of pearl and silver, and the show explores how they use traditional techniques to make these objects. The idea is to both showcase the skills involved and preserve them, as well as, doing a PR job for Korean arts and crafts.
