The Lesley Craze Gallery celebrates its 25th anniversary with an exhibition of specially commissioned silver (4-21 November)

Lesley Craze has asked 25 designers to create a special one-off piece for the new show. Called La Crème, the exhibitor list reads like a rollcall of the biggest and best names in the field with names like Wendy Ramshaw, Jacqueline Mina, David Watkins, Gerda Flockinger and Dorothy Hogg at the top.

So how did Craze decide which makers to select? ‘It’s just gut reaction – that’s how I do more or less everything,’ she says, adding, ‘although I did want to show a good mix of styles and materials and to show how international the gallery is.’ (The show includes work by Arek Wolski from Poland, Japanese Etsuko Sonobe and the German designer Michael Becker.) She was also keen for the exhibition to be a showcase for the gallery as a whole, underlining its cutting-edge aesthetic and her own personal taste for jewellery that makes a strong statement. ‘I try to very hard to have work here that you won’t see elsewhere’ she says.
