Louboutin at the Design Museum

Shoes by French designer Christian Louboutin go on show at London’s Design Museum this summer (until 9 July)

This exhibition tells the story (so far) of Louboutin’s extraordinarily successful career. It showcases his glamorous shoes alongside items from his own archive which detail the design process from drawing board to prototype to factory – and even beyond to his shops with their innovative store design. In the process the show highlights Louboutin’s ability to create serious statement shoes, full of style, sex appeal and unexpected, luxurious details – be they in lace or leopard skin. It also explores his sources of inspiration which range from cabaret, film, architecture and travel to fantasy and fairy tales. The show also includes sections featuring Louboutin’s one-off designs as well as the shoes – even more raunchy than his regular creations – he produced for David Lynch’s Fetish exhibition held in Paris in 2007.
