Moving On: 8,207,654mm
Jewellery students from the Royal College of Art are staging a live walking exhibition on 25 January
A usual complaint with jewellery exhibitions is that the object remains at arm’s length, pieces are seen isolated from the body while the visitor itches with the desire to wear them. A group of 15 jewellery students at the Royal College of Art, together known as the Moving On collective, are providing a remedy with a live walking exhibition. Wearing containers filled with their creations, the students will begin their journey at 11am at the RCA on London’s Kensington Gore and travel across London throughout the day stopping off at the British Museum and Tate Modern. Passersby are welcome to chat and debate with the makers, and they’ll be encouraged to handle the work. Moving On: 8,207,654mm, named after the distance covered (5.1 miles), will also be stopping at Gallery SO on Brick Lane, to invite visitors to try on jewellery in their Chamber of Wonder exhibition.
