A Snatched last kiss

About this project

A collection of textile pieces made in response to the letters of her Great Great grandfather, a merchant trader, written to his wife in 1869 as he sailed from Liverpool to West Africa.
Weaving in old maps and fragments of clothing and lace owned and made by Helen and taking inspiration from the strip woven textiles of West Africa it is a story of a journey, of love, loss and the threads that connect across time.
Exhibited in 2016 at Craft Central funded by a bursary from Jameson whiskey.
