About this project

‘Knot’ is made up of a thousand padded, fabric elements. It can be installed in a repeat pattern or the units can be randomly tied together. This piece is inspired the by the colour-coding of under-wires in bras and the children’s game pick-up-sticks.

Ten years after making ‘Knot’ I created a much larger work with 2000 elements and many more colours. The ‘Margate Knot’ was shown in the historic exhibition ‘Entangled: Threads and Making’, curated by Karen Wright at Turner Contemporary.
