Approximating Animals

About this project

An ongoing series of original artworks that uniquely combine hand embroidery with vintage taxidermy. These still lifes celebrate colour and figuration through a playful use of abstraction, deconstructing extending and re-imagining the animal body to suggest something of its past vitality whilst exploring the relationship between art and nature in the material boundaries where artistry and anatomy interact; in the interplay between the hand-made embroidery and natural animal colours and textures.
