Ribbon of Gold

About this project

As part of a new residential development in Soho, I was asked to design a permanent art installation for the entrance lobby. My ideas were led by the stories and characters of the area. The result was a 14 metre gold ribbon, inspired by the giant goldbeater from Charles Dickens book ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, and had some prose from the book inscribed into the metal. The ribbon bends in and out of the lobby walls, starting as a bench and ending as a smear of gold leaf.
