bamboo patches and waterfalls

About this project

This project (as are all my projects) is influenced by where I come from and MY childhood. The bamboo patch is reminiscent of hide and seek and vivid greens, pale yellows and talking trees and a Sunday walk meant hiking up to my local waterfall and being tuned into nature from young.

Inspiration comes from the bamboo patches I used to play in at school as a child from the Caribbean. It was such an ethereal, strange space.

This is inspired by the steelpan. The steelpan is the only instrument invented in the 20th century and it hails from my home of Trinidad and Tobago. This piece is modelled after the Basspan which is the largest steelpan. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18903131
