About this project

‘Ligamentum I’ is part of my Freeform Collection. The sweeping curved elements used in the construction are made from one continuous length, using various moulding techniques to shape and manipulate the timber. Each curved element is then finished by hand using spoke-shaves.

Typically, during the early development stages, small-scale models are made. Unusually, in the development of this collection, many prototypes were made at actual size to successfully to gauge the stresses on the timber.
