Murano

About this project

This sideboard is part of my larger Murano Collection. It was inspired by a visit to the Venetian island of Murano, where master craftsmen have been producing glassware for centuries, by floating layers of different coloured glass through one another to produce exquisite patterns.

My aim was to develop a free-flowing laminate. To create this, hundreds of thin strips of wood are joined together using contrasting timbers; resulting in ‘wavy’ sweeping lines and curves that engulf the furniture.
