'Record' Collection from The Enticement of Everyday Objects

About this project

‘Record’: Exploring the relationships between people and possessions, this collection of interactive objects was initially inspired by our need to fidget. From pocket watches to match boxes, these items create an unexpected home to enclose a range of mechanisms allowing the user to record their thoughts and feelings, providing an item of comfort that could accompany them in their everyday lives.

Through exploration and handling of the piece a relationship is created between the item and the user, becoming a companion to our everyday lives.

A sense of anonymity is created by the objects simple exterior, intriguing the user to explore what is concealed within it, but also providing a sense of satisfaction when the items are hidden and contained.
