About this project

Designed for The Tennis House in the United States, a short distance from the main house on the shores of Lake Michigan. Used as a guest house, the client requested four comfortable chairs.  The concept of the Knot Chair started from the principle that comfort derives from profiles that give firm bodily support in the right places rather than cushioning.  This was achieved with carefully sculptured cushions of burr elm, "knotted" to frames of laminated oak.
