The Plymouth Chairs

About this project

Commissioned by Plymouth University for
their annual Graduation ceremonies.  These major occasions are attended by very large audiences so the bold form of the chairs is a response to the need for a commanding presence. Three large chairs feature the University‚Äôs heraldic shield and four smaller ones are for the Heads of the different schools.
Two similar chairs have been acquired by the Fitzwiliam Museum, Cambridge, for their permanent collection.
