Julie’s practice is one of necessity: the need to unravel traumatic memories, confront the hurt and discover how to live again.
With an established drawing practice grounded in free machine embroidery, Julie attended the RCA. Through critical engagement, her known boundaries of making were explored. With an intimacy of line, Julie closed her eyes and made marks that responded to how she felt. Instead of a dialogue hidden in process, Julie's art embodied words that had once been hard to say.
