About this project

My Totem figures have been inspired by stylized depictions of the human form in tribal and neolithic art, along with arrangements of ancient standing stones such as those at Avebury Stone Circles.  I particularly like the power evoked by such simplicity.

Ideas for the glaze colours have come slate and flint in the rain, while the raku firing process has given the glazes an iridescent quality along with unique and subtle surface crazing. H 52.7cm x W 10cm x D 9.7cm

Ideas for the glaze colours have come from autumn walks in the woods and the raku firing process has given the glazes an iridescent quality along with unique and subtle surface crazing. I have mounted the ceramic figure on a stained and sealed hard wood base for stability, and I have carved my initials on the wood beneath. H 41.5 cm x W 9.5 cm D 8 cm
