Lise Herud Braten

London, Greater London

texture, form, colour

£50 — £1200

My work reflects my memories of growing up in Norway, surrounded by mountains, forests and rocky beaches, and I find the textures, shapes and colours in craggy rock faces, lichen, moss and layered tree bark endlessly fascinating.
I work in a free and intuitive way, using techniques like stretching and carving, often combined with wheel throwing, to create organic forms reminiscent of elements in the wild. I use a variety of clays, grogs, slips, oxides and glazes, and fire to stoneware 1260C.
