Sculptural blown glass

About this project

A series called ‘Intention’, a solid stretched form capturing vibrant colours and mounted on a steel stand. Made using Swedish, Venetian and English techniques. One-off pieces inspired by the Skylon structure which became the symbol of the 1951 Festival of Britain. The celebration of British design during a period of post war hope and austerity was an incredibly creative time. I wanted to reflect this in my new pieces, but also show the restraint and limitations applicable then and now.
