Presence Through Absence

About this project

‘Presence through Absence’ explores Verity’s fascination with people’s everyday lives and activities, as seen through windows in the evening. Rather than wanting to be voyeuristic or intrusive she is interested in capturing snapshots that convey a sense of stillness, warmth, absence of presence and being the outsider looking in. She translates this interest through ceramic forms which convey the volume and depth of darkness and echo the shadowy yet solid structures of buildings at night.
