Who said play was just for children?
In this major new Crafts Council immersive, interactive exhibition for Hull City of Culture 2017, sixteen UK and international makers and designers take an inventive, often subversive, approach to craft to reveal how play shapes our lives and the world around us.
The installations and objects invite us to play – either physically or in our imaginations - and turn upside down the idea that play is just the preserve of children. Instead it is revealed as a creative, social and political force that infuses all areas of life.
Hull – known for its subversive humour, rebellious spirit and championing of freedom – is the perfect place to present States of Play. You’ll come away inspired to inject renewed playfulness into your life.
States of Play launches Hull City of Culture’s Season Three: Freedom, and is a Crafts Council and Hull 2017 Partnership Exhibition, supported by the British Council.
