Petronilla Silver

Petronilla Silver exhibits a wide range of media displayed concurrently.

Previously at the Wills Lane Gallery, St Ives, and now at Cape Cornwall, Petronilla Silver has selected five innovative makers who explore the area where art and craft elide.

Marta Rogoyska works on a hand-loom using wool on cotton warp to make her colourful abstract tapestries. Her method of designing straight onto the loom is apparent in the spontaneity and detail of the image. She prepares with broad outlines and develops ideas as she weaves. She says her aim is to “engage and intrigue the viewer”. She trained in Fine Art, latterly graduating from the Royal College of Art, London in 1976, where she chose weaving as her means of expression. She is represented in the collections of major corporations and museums in the UK and the US, and lives in both.
