Origin 2009 opens in style
Origin 2009 opened in style with a reception for over 400 guests on Monday 5th October.

Gwyn Miles, Director, Somerset House Trust, Joanna Foster, Chair, Crafts Council and Rosy Greenlees, Executive Director, Crafts Council all gave words of welcome, and praised the extraordinary range of craft talent on show at the Fair. Guests included Sir Terence and Lady Conran (pictured), Priscilla Carluccio, Lord Birt, Bamber Gascoigne and Janet Street-Porter.
Rosy Greenlees also announced the launch of our campaign, Craft Matters – if you want to Make Craft Count, sign up online and show your support for contemporary craft here.
“There is always more to do – we fundamentally believe that craft matters – and I mean believe – and it’s not just about the facts and figures that we quote, though they do matter, it’s what we feel and what we connect with as human beings. At a time of economic and political change, we all need to stand up and make craft count – it matters for the thousands of makers who rely on all of our support, and for the millions of visitors who enjoy contemporary craft. I urge you to visit our website and to sign up to show that Craft Matters to you, so that we can Make Craft Count.” ~ Rosy Greenlees
