Compulsive, Obsessive, Repetitive
Sanna Moore
2007

An exhibition titled Compulsive, Obsessive, Repetitive, curated by programme participant Sanna Moore, will open at the new Towner Art Gallery in July-August 2011.

Moore has undertaken extensive research into repetitive making processes in sculpture, from its roots in 60s minimalism (and such artists as Eva Hesse, Sol LeWitt, Mel Boucher and Andy Warhol) to the present day.

The exhibition will explore work by makers for whom repetition is embedded in the process of creation; who use small-scale repetitive processes to create large scale sculptural work or installations. By deconstructing the process, the exhibition aims to isolate the individual elements of the final installation and to examine the artist’s techniques and methods. The six artists selected for the exhibition are Jill Townsley, Claire Morgan, Jodie Carey, Susie MacMurray, Brendan Jamison and Graham Seaton.
