General Information
Ellen O’Hara joined the Cockpit team in 2006 and has overall responsibility for Cockpit Arts’ business and professional development services. Since then she has worked with over 300 designer-makers to develop their practices and grow their businesses. Ellen is an accredited business coach and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Birmingham and a postgraduate diploma in administrative management. She heads Cockpit Arts’ research projects and is a commentator on issues relating to the craft sector Ellen previously worked for The Princes Trust, Arts Council England and Andersen management consultancy She also sits on the Board of Directors for CreativePeop!e, a national network of professional development providers, and This is Not a Gateway, a not for profit organisation that creates platforms for those whose point of reference is the city.
Jacob van der Beugel produces architectural large scale ceramic installations and intimate ceramic groupings for domestic spaces, often drawing parrallels with music scores and other man made abstractions. He uses themes such as memento mori and vanitas to conceptualise and dramaticise the work. Jacob was apprenticed to Rupert Spira in 2002 and assistant to Edmund de Waal in 2004.
