General Information

CraftNet is a leadership network. It has a core group of individual members who represent each region and undertake to organise regional networking meetings to discuss issues relating to the sector and encourage sharing, exchange, development and promotion of contemporary craft. All are welcome – from commercial galleries to local authority museums, from organisations and trusts to individual makers, artists, curators and all those with an interest in craft.

Social media: the impact on practice and public engagement
How can makers and craft organisations successfully utilise social media to maximise impact and what are the potential pitfalls?

This event will: present a briefing note commissioned by the Crafts Council to explore the use of social media by makers and organisations; feature a presentation by Nick Booth, founder of podnosh an award-winning company who specialise in social media strategy and facilitate better communication between the public and the public sector via social media; feature a panel discussion between makers who already sucessfully use social media.

There will be opportunity to see current exhibitions at Bilston Craft Gallery; Transplantation: A sense of place and culture and Made to Make from 12 noon. We will be providing a light lunch for all attendees from 1.15pm before the afternoon presentations at 2pm.
