In pursuit for a better future for the craftspersons of the world, the World Crafts Council (WCC) at its forthcoming 17th General Assembly (to be held in Chennai, India from October 7th-10th, 2012) will celebrate the theme ‘FUTURE IS HANDMADE’. The focus will be on the importance of handicrafts to national economies.
The summit attempts to bring together the voices and perspectives and to articulate an action agenda for the future, whose value might well resonate far beyond the crafts sector about new directions and possibilities. In the final analysis, the shaping of the future is eventually by human hands, the most fundamental aspect that signifies the highest levels of skill, compassion and hope.
The sessions will be on:
– Craft as important for livelihoods
– Global challenges and opportunities for crafts
– Craft as a cultural and knowledge system
– Recognition of the craft system
