Object as Muse is an exhibition of work by seven artists working in varying disciplines including ceramics, drawing and photography. Six artists have presented a visual response to a textile piece that is currently held in the Crafts Council Collection – the Asentamiento Dress by Julie Cook.

Using this dress as the ‘muse’ artists Colette Bryce, David Birkin, Dunne and Raby with Noam Toram, Tamsin van Essen, Arabel Lebrusan and Susie MacMurray present work that responds to what they feel the dress signifies.

As a result we are presented with a poem, a photo, a film, six ceramic vessels, a silver mantilla and a drawing that all explore prevalent themes in Julie Cooks work.
