See/ Object as Muse: Asentamiento Dress/ 8 August to 19 October 2008
General Information
Asentamiento Dress by Julie Cook is the centre piece of Object as Muse. This thought provoking exhibition explores the differing responses a single object can evoke.
Our lives and experiences can shape the way we interpret an object. Object as Muse presents six creative responses to the “dress” from a range of creative disciplines.
These responses encourage us to discover and engage in the multi-layered nature of an object and draw upon our own experiences to develop personal interpretations.
Asentamiento Dress, through its association with comfort and warmth, is designed to cure the physical, spiritual and emotional ills of contemporary life, you may, however, see it differently.
Including: Colette Bryce (poetry), David Birkin (photography), Julie Cook (textiles), Dunne & Raby (critical design), Tamsin van Essen (ceramics), Susie MacMurray (installation) and Arabel Lebrusan (jewellery).
