Learn/ 'Revival' Contemporary Craft CPD for Teachers/ 21 January 2011

General Information

The day will include:
● RCA graduate artists from Ceramics, Glass, Metalwork and Textiles talking about their work, setting up studios, commissions, exhibitions, teaching, freelance work and their pathways through education to becoming a creative practitioner.

● Taster sessions led by RCA graduates, which will allow you to experiment with Ceramics, Glass Metalwork and Textile materials and techniques. These short, making sessions will explore ideas and skills that you could use in the classroom.

● Katy Bevan from the Crafts Council will join us to discuss how making in the classroom can improve not only creative skills but also concentration, behaviour and problem solving that are relevant in all areas of school life

● A selection of work from the Crafts Council’s handling collection will be available to see and touch, with ideas for use in classroom and lesson planning. Information will be provided about how to access the Handling Collection in schools

● Tours of V&A galleries led by RCA graduates and time to explore on your own

● Links to V&A Sackler Center resources

● Discussion and networking with other teachers

Please bring clothes that you do not mind getting messy or an apron. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Fees are non returnable and non refundable. Only 30 places, so please do not delay in booking.
