What's on

Learn/ TED's Summer Debate/ 16 July 2010

General Information

• Four speakers will take up a position pro the motion and anti the motion for 5 minutes respectively, to make their case. (See the TED blog
a week before the event to find out the final line up)
• You, the audience, have simply to listen carefully to the case made for and against the motion by each speaker and then to vote, in conclusion, to signal your view.
• This event is designed to be a challenge to the assumptions often made by committed environmentalists, that the case for sustainable design is already made.
• Higher Education in Art and Design has, in some cases embraced and in others nodded, towards the inclusion of sustainable strategies for design thinking in the curriculum.
• Where do we all stand? This two hour experience will nudge each of us closer to a view, with some creative argument, humour and a good deal of common sense talked about our current
position.
• As designers, manufacturers, educators or students, in this issue how real is our view of the real world?

If you would like to join in the debate, please turn up on the day. This event is free, and you do not need to RSVP or reserve a space.
