Teenage creative kicks, Kim Yong Un in tapestry and hand crafted bird eggs

What happened
Design Miami/ Basel opened. We liked Raf Simons’ American quilt chairs, Southern Guild, Hostler Burrows, Carpenters Workshop + more.
The National Saturday Club Summer Show at Somerset House opened showing the exceptional creativity of 1,500 13-16 year olds who have attended free art classes.
The New York Times looked at how the fine art world is finally embracing clay.
To tie in with Refugee Week Crafts Council maker Esna Su’s When the Nest Falls opens at the Sarabande Foundation exploring ideas of protection and preservation through her woven pieces.
Maker of the Week Lara Scobie says over on Instagram “clay demands you understand it, you have to know it’s ways, but through this you build a deep and nourishing relationship.”
What was made
A tapestry of Kim Yong-un by Pat Taylor shows a younger and more mature version of the North Korean leader as part of Weaving New Worlds exhibition at William Morris Gallery.
What was said
