Jonathan Reed

Studio Reed, established by Jonathan Reed in 1996, is a design practice specialising in residential design

The studio of almost forty staff includes architects, interior designers and furniture designers, all sharing a passion for detail and craftsmanship which is an ever present thread in the broad canvas of buildings and interiors originated and executed by the practice both in the UK and internationally.

Studio Reed’s work is carried out in collaboration with an exclusive community of like minded craftspeople, artisans, manufacturers and artists with whom Jonathan Reed and the practice have developed a mutual working relationship over many years. This relationship and deep understanding of making and materiality is fundemental to the creation, by Studio Reed, of unique buildings, spaces and interiors, using an educated and sophisticated design language that in each case draws on influences inspired by the client, location, architecture and history of the individual project.

Jonathan Reed studied physiology at King’s College London but upon graduation became involved in retail design and development. He worked firstly for Hackett, the British menswear company, responsible for store design and product design and development and then for Polo Ralph Lauren in Paris. After returning to London to become Creative Director at Hackett in 1993 Jonathan co-founded Reed Boyd, a retail consultancy and interior design studio which worked with labels including Aquascutum, Asprey, and Valentino.

To date Studio Reed have worked on many significant international residential design projects, for amongst others, David and Iman Bowie, Jonathan and Ronnie Newhouse, Giancarlo Giammetti and Queen Rania of Jordan.
