Calling all diverse and talented designer-makers! As part of an annual programme of events in our retail annexe, Manchester Art Gallery's shop is looking for contemporary designer-makers to propose a series of works for sale in our selling show '20/22: Shop 20 Craft Makers for £22'. The appetite for arts and crafts has seen a huge surge of interest in 2020/21, compelled by long periods spent at home and an increased desire to surround ourselves with beautiful things. We want to keep the momentum going by offering an affordable showcase of works by diverse and talented makers.
Introducing potential collectors, craft enthusiasts and those just wanting to dip their toe in to the wonderful world of affordable contemporary craft. The show will be running from 29 April 2022 to 25 July 2022.
The brief for ‘20/22: Shop 20 Craft Makers for £22’
Work can be a series of multiples or individual pieces. All work must retail at £22 or less and fit into one of these 10 craft-discipline categories and be suitable for the contemporary giftware market: ceramics, glass, jewellery, fashion, textiles, mixed media, paper, metalwork, sculpture and woodwork. We are happy to receive proposals from established makers of exceptional handmade work based anywhere in the UK. The work you are proposing to exhibit, must be made and ready to send to us from 8 April 2022 and be with us by 22 April at the latest. If you are selected, we will also require a final list of works to be sent to us by 26 March. The commission will be 50% of the retail price after VAT and on a sale or return basis. It will be your responsibility to get work to Manchester Art Gallery.
