Artist Charlotte Hodes, is looking for a ceramicist/potter/designer to make her a series of around 20 ceramic vases to be made for a new body of work. The ceramicist/potter/designer will work closely with Charlotte but will lead on all technical and operational processes to bring the ceramics vases to completion - from construction to decoration, glazing and firing the vases.
Ideally the work would begin in February/March 2022 and be completed over 6-12 months. The works will be exhibited in late Summer 2023 so there is some flexibility in timing. The vases will be similar in shape to the work that she has created previously in which she has utilised a range of decorative techniques that include working onto the surface of unfired forms; sprigging, hand cut paper stencils with slip, glaze application and enamel decal.
The forms can be press moulded (in which case these can be made by a specialist mould maker) with some sections such as lids and handles that are thrown or entirely thrown. The forms will be in the region of 40- 50cm in height. In each of her projects, she has responded to the particular skills of the collaborator. The work is to be made in the ceramicist studio (with the exception of enamel decal application).
